Naupathia is a problem.: TW: some deets on "Riley", the head of The Arkh Project ›
So for those that still don’t believe that Riley (seeing as that’s what they’re going by now), the head of The Arkh Project, isn’t a nasty little piece of shit disturbance and batcrap insane here’s some google caches for you. This is also for anyone that’s been…
That is… really unfortunate. I wish that The Arkh Project could fall into better hands than this person. (I’m sort of considering whether or not I should go into my archive and delete all the reblogs of The Arkh Project that I made before I read this post.)
wait
really
this is not cool ;;
Yeah, Riley’s kind of a douche. :/ And I’ve seen a lot of evidence the people in charge don’t really know what they’re doing. I’m still rooting for the Arkh Project to pull through and be awesome, but I’m also not exactly holding my breath.
My feelings on the matter at this point.
It’s a big disappointment, because I really loved Arkh’s concept, but I have extremely little faith in the project and also not very fond feelings for Riley. A part of me still dreams, but alas, it is likely not to be.
Yeah, about the same.
I’m starting to get irritated at the people who keep trying to frame all the legitimate concerns as people who just hate the idea of POC and queer people having a game. Like, no, a lot of us ARE queer people and/or POC and we have concerns about it, that have been brought up several times, and seconded by a number of people who know about how to make a game, and all you say is WELL TELL ARKH THAT THEN with a side of WHY DO YOU HATE POC AND QUEER PEOPLE?
And so far the only excuse has been, “Well they’re still in the concept stage!” and you know, it’s okay to be, and to not have a lot of shit together then, but don’t…make it public and ask for money? Or talk about your plans but don’t ask for money. Get your concept straight and then work on the technical stuff and give us some proof you know what you’re doing and THEN ask for money. So far we’ve given them over five thousand dollars on basically good faith and hope, but I really don’t think it’s unreasonable for people to have concerns about that given the lack of technical or design documents.
There’s doing things a different or new way, and then there’s putting out a lot of talk and asking people to pay you money without much proof to back it up. I wish people would stop acting like it’s completely unreasonable to be a little suspicious.
Definitely agreed.
Also, for any followers who have been supporting Arkh but have not been hearing all the talk floating around Tumblr, this is basically what’s up. The people at Arkh don’t have any experience with making a game and are missing very crucial basics (technical and design documents) that are necessary for people to even begin having confidence that the video game is going to happen rather than be a neat idea that is never realized. Some concept art, character design, and vague ideas about how they want the game to play is not a proper basis on which to raise over 5000 dollars in donations. When they get further along and actually have a grasp on how to make a game, then you can start throwing some money at them, but right now it’s really shaky.
I mean, like we said, we’re still rooting for them and HOPE it’ll get beyond a neat idea, but yeah, they really need to get their shit together.
